Kier Highways Secures Additional Year on Surrey County Council Highways Contract

Keir Highways
Surface Treatments, Surrey

A 12-month contract worth c.Ā£40m has been awarded to Kier Highways to continue providing highways maintenance works to Surrey County Council.

The contract started in 2011 and, in 2017, Kier secured a four-year extension that will run until April 2021 which is when the 12-month contract will commence.

The scope of work includes highways maintenance and improvements, as well as the continuation of the S-Skills academy, which was launched as part of the contract in 2017. S-Skills for Highways is a 16-week programme operated in conjunction with Surrey County Council and provides vulnerable young people and adults with the opportunity to learn basic highway works that will help improve their chances of employment.

Joe Incutti, acting group managing director at Kier Highways, said: ā€œWe are very proud to have been working with Surrey County Council for nearly 10 years delivering highways maintenance and improvements, and particularly proud to have had the opportunity to make a positive social value contribution which will benefit residents and communities in Surrey for many years to come.

ā€œThis contract award is further recognition of the long-term collaborative relationship that has been built between Kierā€™s extraordinary Surrey Highways team, and Surrey County Council. We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to continue our relationship with Surrey County Council and look forward to continue making a positive contribution in the future.ā€
