Why “Site” Health?

Construction worker health can be impacted by a huge range of site hazards, from respiratory disease caused by exposure to dust and fume, to developing musculoskeletal disorders from the improper handling of heavy objects. In 2023/24 the HSE reported the following;

  • 1.7 million workers suffering from work-related ill health (new or long-standing) in 2023/24.
  • 29.6 million working days lost due to work-related ill health in 2023/24.
  • 13,000 deaths each year are estimated to be linked to past exposure at work, primarily to chemicals or dust.

These statistics are a clear indicator as to why we need to address many aspects of site health, raise awareness and educate within the industry to protect against a number of dangerous and life altering hazards.
