National contractor GRAHAM has expanded its footprint in the North of England, opening a new office in Cumbria.
Located at the Phoenix Enterprise Centre in Cleator Moor, the new site will be utilised by GRAHAM’s civil engineering and building divisions.
It will enable the teams to better support the delivery of high-quality nuclear infrastructure projects across the North West.
The Cumbria premises will grow GRAHAM’s operational capacity for the civil engineering division, demonstrating its commitment to delivering much-needed infrastructure projects across North and Central England.
The site will also be used by GRAHAM’s Building division, which operates nationally and is currently working on several schemes in the North.
Alastair Lewis, Contracts Director at GRAHAM, will lead the Cumbria-based team. He views the opening of the new office as a strong commitment to the contractor’s staff and clients in the area.
He said: “With 15 years of experience delivering nuclear and defence projects in Cumbria, GRAHAM is well established and has developed the expertise needed to support this growing market. The office allows us to provide a better working and meeting space, which will support our current projects and work-winning functions.
“Establishing a presence here was a natural next step for us. We’re already working in the area, and this move allows us to have boots on the ground, creating local jobs for local people. It ensures we’re well-positioned to deliver the infrastructure and building projects that these communities genuinely need.”
The office opening follows a number of large project wins in the region for GRAHAM. This includes its appointment to deliver infrastructure works at the Low Level Waste Repository site in Drigg in Cumbria, which will see the team on-site until summer 2029.
The national contractor gathered local employees, clients and stakeholders to celebrate the office opening on 8 April and discuss the vital role Cumbria is playing in the UK’s infrastructure plans.
