New Relationship Delivers Initial £5.9m Multi-utility Contracts on Major East Midlands Mixed-use Scheme, Fairham

Fulcrum - Fairham Scheme

Fulcrum, the leading independent multi-utility infrastructure and services provider, has secured two new contracts, worth a combined £5.9m, at Fairham, Nottinghamshire.

The Sheffield-based company will supply the gas, electricity and water infrastructure and a primary substation at Fairham in Nottingham.

The region’s most significant mixed-use development, Fairham is an £800m joint venture between Derbyshire-based Clowes Developments and Homes England, the government’s housing accelerator. The scheme will deliver 3,000 new homes, one million square feet of purpose-built commercial space and up to 2,000 new jobs on the southern edge of Nottingham.

Delivered over a period of two years, these two initial contracts will create the ‘spine’ of the multi-utility infrastructure that will serve the development.  In addition, Fulcrum will become preferred utility partner for home builders constructing on the development.

Once installed by Fulcrum, the electricity and gas infrastructure on the development will be adopted by ESP under the existing asset adoption agreement Fulcrum has with them.

This is the latest in several multi-million-pound contract wins secured by Fulcrum, building on its strategic relationship with ESP. In recent months, the company secured a £4.2 million contract to provide 13.5km of new high voltage electrical infrastructure for a major redevelopment project and a £1.8 million contract to install electricity and gas infrastructure to another large mixed-use development.

Terry Dugdale, CEO, said: “We are delighted to be working as a preferred partner at Fairham on this exciting and significant project that will create a thriving new community in a prime residential and commercial destination in Nottingham.

“This is the latest in a succession of major contract wins for the Group as we continue to bid on, and win, larger residential, mixed-use and commercial contracts. These latest contract wins demonstrate the successful execution of improvements that the new management team are making in our business and our operational efficiency and have been supported by our enhanced capabilities, which includes our asset adoption relationship with ESP.”

Robert Hepwood, Director at Clowes Developments added: “Fairham is one of the most significant mixed-use developments in the country, bringing fresh employment opportunities and much-needed new housing to the region. It will create a vibrant community with new health, education, leisure, retail and local facilities set within a well-planned, sustainable, safe and characterful environment.”
