Mixed-Use Developer, Montreaux, Strengthens Flourishing Team

Montreaux, Development Manager, John English

Successful mixed-use developer, Montreaux, recently expanded its team with the appointment of new Development Manager, John English. With a strong background from within the industry – including a degree in Land Management from Reading University, and ten years at Broadhaven Estates overseeing the Planning and Acquisition team – John will no doubt make a valuable asset to Montreaux’s workforce.

John comments: “After graduating from University, I threw myself into utilising the skillset I had acquired for important charitable causes; in particular, rebuilding communities that were affected by natural disasters. I travelled to Haiti following the 2010 earthquake, and worked alongside the ‘International Disaster Volunteers Project’, managing the rebuilding of orphanages. I also volunteered at the ‘Tsunami Volunteer Centre’ in Khao Lak, Thailand, building houses for local fishing villages; as well as redeveloping schools in the Philippines after the destruction caused by Typhoon Yolanda.”

Having gained extensive industry knowledge between the years of 2003 and 2021, John was introduced to Montreaux, where he was brought in to lead the Development Management on their Stone Foundries Site in the Charlton Riverside Opportunity Area. Speaking about this, John adds: “I wanted to work on more varied schemes and regeneration projects, and Montreaux gave me the opportunity to do so. The Charlton site covers 122 hectares, and Montreaux will be working on 9.75 acres of the area.”

He continues: “This former industrial site dates back to 1917, and previously accommodated castings for ships and Spitfire plane parts during the war. Here at Montreaux, we plan to comprehensively redevelop the site in order to facilitate approximately 1000 homes, in excess of 7000 sq. of commercial space, and a one-acre public park. Ultimately, we aim to modernise the site, whilst simultaneously paying homage to its industrial past.”

John finalises: “Montreaux has earned an impeccable reputation as a mixed-use developer, and I look forward to working alongside my colleagues to help it reach its full potential.”
