Keltbray announces it has signed The Climate Pledge, a commitment co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 or sooner.
Keltbray has committed to working toward net-zero carbon across its operations āwhich in aggregate has the potential to significantly reduce corporate carbon emissions.
Signatories to The Climate Pledge agree to:
- Measure and report greenhouse gas emissions on a regular basis.
- Implement decarbonisation strategies in line with the Paris Agreement through real business changes and innovations, including efficiency improvements, renewable energy, materials reductions, and other carbon emission elimination strategies.
- Neutralise any remaining emissions with additional, quantifiable, real, permanent, and socially beneficial offsets to achieve net-zero annual carbon emissions by 2040āa decade ahead of the Paris Agreementās goal of 2050.
Climate change is the most important issue of our lifetime and the single greatest threat to our planet. The urgency to address the issue is underscored by the latest report from the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which provides a thorough examination of the physical science of climate change. The report underscores the need for increased urgency in addressing the climate crisis, and finds that unless there are immediate, rapid, and large-scale reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, limiting warming to close to 1.5 degrees Celsius or even 2 degrees Celsius will be out of reach.
