R.House was established in 2012 when James MacQueen Building Contractors and Rural Design architects came together to create a sustainable and efficient solution for housing in the Highlands.
Together they created the R.House, a house that could be workshop constructed, minimising costs and waste without compromising on quality and design.
These beautifully designed prefabricated homes can be adapted to suit client needs, taking care of not just the construction and any planning issues, but also offering a complete turnkey service.
At the heart of R.HOUSE is the ambition to make a difficult process easy, building houses efficiently, sustainably and as affordable as possible.
Also central to the Companyās philosophy is energy efficiency from the design, construction, building materials and delivery of houses, right through to their staff offices and fleet vehicles. Everything is considered in the drive to be as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible.
Underfloor heating in the house is provided by an Air Source Heat Pump system which also heats the water. This, along with mechanical heat recovery ventilation and Photovoltaic solar panels, make the R.HOUSE exceptionally economical to run.
R.HOUSE design and build sustainable, timber frame homes. A unique offering in which both design and construction expertise are under one roof, meaning we take care of everything – from planning permission to completion. This also allows us to be very clear about pricing and upfront costs.
Factory construction is safer, cleaner and allows work in all weather – ensuring swift production and fixed-cost pricing.
R.HOUSE self-build homes are fully project-managed through their complete turnkey service. The Company work with clients from the very start, even advising on the suitability of the proposed building plot, to handing over the keys on completion.
The homes are delivered to site on their custom-designed lorry and can be erected on site within seven hours – wind and watertight.
