Kirk Raine, senior site manager at David Wilson Homes Mercia, has won the 2020 NHBC Pride in the Job Supreme award, the housebuilding industry’s top accolade for the quality of new homes being built.
Now in their 40th year the Pride in the Job Quality awards recognise the best site managers from around the country. Each site manager is judged on a range of key criteria including health and safety, their technical knowledge, customer service and attention to detail.
Over 11,000 site managers enter the competition, before 450 individual winners are picked. From those just four Supreme winners are chosen every year (one each for the four categories of small, medium, multi-storey and large builder).
Continuing the success for Barratt this year, the runner-up was Mark Summersgill, site manager at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North East. This is the first time in six years that both the winner and runner-up have come from the same company, underlining the success Barratt has achieved this year.
Also gaining recognition for Barratt at the awards this year were Henry Patecki, Steven Jordan, Peter Lawrie, Jamie Fox and Paul Oakley, who were all finalists in the large builder category. This year Barratt site managers were named regional winners in seven out of the 10 categories entered, which shows its commitment to building homes of the highest quality throughout the country.
To celebrate the great work that all of its site managers do across the country, Barratt has also made a £50,000 donation to the Lighthouse Club, who provide mental, physical and financial wellbeing support for construction workers and their families.
Kirk Raine, NHBC 2020 Supreme winner, commented: “I’m very proud to win the Supreme award for a second time. All credit goes to my team on site, our suppliers and sub-contractors who work very hard at Doseley Park to build great quality homes for our customers so it is wonderful for them to be recognised for this as well. I’m over the moon!”
Bill Hill, CEO of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity said, “We are absolutely delighted to hear about this incredible achievement by Barratt and its site managers in the recent ‘Pride in the Job Awards’ which has resulted in us receiving a hugely generous £50,000 donation. This donation will go a huge way towards us achieving our mission that no construction worker or their family is alone in a crisis.”
No other housebuilder has won so many of the industry’s top awards, with Barratt having won more Pride in the Job Quality awards than anyone else for 16 years in a row. These records underline the very high standard of work that Barratt site teams deliver day in and day out, building much needed new homes.
