Chelmsford-Based Housebuilder Celebrates Double Success at National Awards Event

Vistry Group Awards

A Chelmsford housebuilder is celebrating a double success at a national awards event.

Vistry Eastern, based in the city, have acclaimed two members of their team who were awarded with trophies at the 2022 Vistry Annual Awards in Birmingham.

Vistry Group was formed in 2020 and is made up of Bovis Homes, Linden Homes and Vistry Partnerships. The awards included employees from the whole group, which has 13 housebuilding regions and nine partnerships regions.

Mark Ablett, senior site manager at Bovis Homes’ Grange Park development in Thurston, near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, picked up the Group Safety Award for Low Rise Housing on behalf of his team.

Mark said: “It was an honour to be awarded the Vistry SHE low rise safety award for Grange Park at Tuesday’s awards evening.

“Vistry Group promoted health and safety as their main priority when developing sites and my team at Grange Park strive each day to provide a place of work where people feel safe, and promote a culture of feeling part of our team as one Vistry.

“It has been a great feeling to educate our workforce, and receive positive feedback for it. I would like to thank Vistry Eastern’s management team and our SHE advisor for their positive support and guidance at Grange Park.”

Adam Streeton, a plumbing apprentice working for the sub-contractors TS Wild at Bovis Homes’ Stortford Fields development in Bishop’s Stortford in Hertfordshire, claimed the Full-time Apprentice of the Year Award.

Adam, who has been with Vistry Eastern for four years, travelled 160 miles from his home in Kent to the ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.

“It turned out to be a great night,” said Adam. “I was delighted just to be on the shortlist and to be invited to such a prestigious event. When they called my name out as the winner and I had to walk onto the stage to collect the award it was a real shock.

“I work on site all day and don’t get much chance to meet with the senior management team, so it was good to have that experience and to do a bit of networking. At Vistry Eastern I get all the help and support I need to learn my trade and this company’s culture has enabled me to excel and to be in a position to win this award.”

Rob Church, managing director of Vistry Eastern, said: “We are all thrilled that two of our members of staff have had their hard work and dedication rewarded at the highest level within the company. These awards are testament to the fact that we have a brilliant team of very talented and committed people at Vistry Eastern.

“Adam’s award is a fantastic personal achievement for him as he was competing against not only other trade apprentices but all of the management trainees in the company. Mark’s award is recognised as more of a team effort but is no less deserved as it shows that he knows how to lead and inspire a winning team.

“It was a real night of celebration for Vistry Eastern. We had more members of staff nominated on the shortlists than any other region in the group and we are justifiably proud of that achievement.”

Vistry Eastern is based in Chelmsford and has developments being built under the Linden Homes and Bovis Homes brands in Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk.
