Four outstanding new commercial units with basement and ground floor space are now available within new development, The Gresham – located in the heart of Leicester.

This £17 million development of a former well-known retail store, will also be home to a high-end 121-bed aparthotel, quality restaurant and bar, and start-up office space when it opens this Autumn.

The Gresham is an iconic Grade-II listed Victorian building that was built in the 1800s by local architect Isaac Barradale for Joseph Johnsons, a local draper. In 1962, it was taken over by retailer, Fenwick, who occupied the site until its closure in Spring 2017.

With a huge injection of investment, Leicester’s Market Street area is poised to explode as a primary city centre destination point once again.

Five other units on Market Street are already under offer and numerous new businesses will soon be opening – including an art gallery, a cocktail bar and much more.

Nearby King Street, which runs perpendicular to Market Street also has several units under offer and Leicester City Council has exciting plans to redevelop Pilot House – a council-owned asset – transforming it into a hotspot for start-ups and creative businesses as part of this wider regeneration of the area.

Similarly, new residential developments are in progress, including the conversion of Wellington House in Albion Street, from office blocks into new apartments.

This combination of developments in close proximity are set to transform the look and feel of the area and bring it back to life, attracting a much broader audience and increase the footfall.

Mark Copson, director at Aimrok Holdings, said “We are delighted that The Gresham is central to the exciting renaissance taking place on Market Street and the surrounding area. It’s a great part of the city that is centrally located with excellent accessibility to all the local attractions, cultural quarter and a rapidly growing business district.

“We want The Gresham’s commercial partners to be visionary and see the potential of the surrounding vicinity which is primed to become a focal point of Leicester over the ensuing few years, as an exceptional business potential.”

The four Class E usage units vary in size between 1889sqft and 3521sqft. Leases will be created on a bespoke basis, with varied levels of flexibility, to ensure the right businesses become part of The Gresham community.
