Kier Awarded £107m worth of Blue-Chip Contracts in London

The Fitzrovia

Kier has been appointed to deliver two significant schemes in London, worth £107m in total. It has been appointed to deliver The Fitzrovia, a commercially led mixed-use scheme on Tottenham Court Road for development manager, CO-RE, and by a joint venture comprising Stanhope, Mitsui Fudosan and AIMCo to deliver 1&2 Macfarlane Place, a residential development in White City.

The Fitzrovia is an 88,000 sq ft redevelopment project based 200m from Oxford Street. The six-storey scheme will provide eight residential apartments, 65,000 sq ft of Grade A office space and 8,000 sq ft of flexible retail and education space. 

Offsite construction will be a key focus, the facade will consist of both ceramic and brick faced precast concrete panels, with glazing installed off site and craned into position as finished bays. The scheme has a large focus on sustainability, with targets of BREEAM Excellent, WELL Gold, WIRED Platinum, and NABERS accreditation.  

1&2 Macfarlane Place launches the second phase of the joint venture’s redevelopment of the iconic BBC Television Centre. The 151,000 sq ft project which will include the construction of two residential blocks facing Wood Lane, consisting of eight-storeys and nine-storeys respectively. 

The project will provide 142 mixed tenure residential units, which will be managed by The Peabody Group. The apartments will offer a selection of London affordable rent, London living rent and shared ownership properties plus 2821 sq. ft. of flexible commercial space at ground floor level.

Kier has extensive experience in mixed use schemes in London. It has recently handed over mixed-use 80 Grosvenor St in Mayfair to Frelene (Grosvenor Street) Limited and is currently on site delivering the £106m Marylebone Square scheme, the last whole city block in the W1 postcode to be developed. This 270,800 sq. ft. project will comprise of 54 private apartments and 25 affordable apartments situated across five upper floors, with the ground and lower ground floors providing retail, restaurant and community facilities including a community hall.
